Sam Peckinpah made some great westerns. Right when the genre was dying, he came around & pumped out some of the bloodiest, most violent shoot-em ups ever made – The Wild Bunch, Straw Dogs, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, all classic pictures. When a Carolina-style BBQ house opens up & names themselves after him, you just have to walk in optimistic.
High hopes I had, and exceed them they did. Carolina-style BBQ is not a sloppy, soupy style of BBQ. The meat is smoked for hours & develops a dry exterior that traps in the flavor. I had the pulled pork and it was delicious. I waddled out the door one happy gunslinger and I wasn’t event wearing my ass-less chaps. Add this to the quickly growing restaurant scene in Gastown.
