Movies are best seen on the big screen. I don’t care how many pixels are squeezed into your 52-inch paper thin LCD with speakers so strong explosions flatten bangs & tilt back hats, there is something about the projected image that no TV can replace. Now the problem is you couldn’t pay me to sit through & enjoy the bulk of new releases these days (exception: Black Swan).
Thankfully, places like the Pacific Cinematheque exist & pump out only the best cinema has to offer every week. Showing foreign films, indies, classics or those rarely seen Hong Kong, kung-fu, double feature, B-films, Pacific Cinematheque is sure to have something in its arsenal to whet your appetite. On tonight’s menu: examine every pore on Janet Leigh’s screaming face or each glistening bead of Deniro’s sweat with 2 exceptional new 35mm prints of Psycho then Raging Bull – discounts available if staying for both.
Pacific Cinematheque is cinema for the cinema for the cinema lover. Check them out on Howe at Helmcken, movie lineups change constantly.
