Day 20 – Best Pho in Vancouver... Gold Train Express On West 10th Ave
The snow was coming down pretty good today, which led my mind to the go to crappy day food… pho. If you haven’t had pho it’s time to step out of the comfort food box. Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup, usually served with rare beef or chicken… but could also have random stuff like tripe and tendon. The soup includes noodles made from rice and is often served with basil, lime, bean sprouts, and peppers that are added to the soup by you.
Pho is served in some of the deepest, darkest, and dingiest restaurants in the city… usually the dingier the better the soup. Gold Train Express on West 10th Ave in Point Grey is one of the nicer pho spots. GTE has a nice looking store front, some decent TV’s, and most importantly some seriously satisfying soup. I’m normally a pretty boring rare beef pho person combined with some salad rolls… I would like to venture out but can’t bring myself to do it.
Give this place a shot when you are out West on a crappy day. Gold Train Express only accepts cash… I respect the upfront tax evasion, and enjoy their food. Check it out.
